DSL:

DSL provides internet service via phone cables and is up to ten times faster than dial-up service.

Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Satellite:

Satellite internet is widely available, but offers slower speeds due to a far-traveling signal.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

I have been w/ this company since we got rid of dial up. Originally Frontier offered 3mbps. After many years and many phone calls we operate at 18mbps - 20 mbps. We stream movies, our tv programming (directtv now), and kids online game. It does what we need it to do but customer service can be dicey. Repairmen are competent and offer good advice. I have a feeling we are stuck with the low speeds and poor service due to them being the only game in town. (we live in the country)
