Lancaster Residential Internet Coverage

A small city with a diverse workforce, Lancaster residents work both blue- and white-collar jobs, primarily in the healthcare industry. More than one-third of residents live at or below the federal poverty line. In general, the community is considered lower-middle class. The city is surrounded on three sides by rivers. Lancaster residents can access internet up to 10 mbps, but nothing faster.

Windstream brings DSL to 100% of Lancaster residents. Cable internet is provided to 96% of residents within the three rivers and Rte 1255. Fiber optics have not yet come to the area, but residents can opt for satellite internet from HughesNet.

Business connectivity is even more limited. Time Warner Spectrum reaches 96% of commercial enterprises. The only other option for businesses is HughesNet.

Misleading promises from Windstream. I live in an area where I was told repeatedly by Windstream sales agents that I can get the 25 mbps download plan. However, after agreeing to the plan and signing up I was told they only have 3 mbps in my area. What a shame that they mislead customers to make a buck.
