Birmingham Residential Internet Coverage

With dozens of neighborhoods, the city of Birmingham has a vibrant population that depends on consistent internet service for entertainment and work.

Through Centurylink Prism, residents of select Birmingham neighborhoods have access to fiber internet. The service area is limited to the eastern part of the city, reaching neighborhoods like Roebuck Springs, South East Lake, and Eastwood.

One of the most established service providers in Birmingham is AT&T. Between their DSL service and their fiber service, AT&T makes internet available to all of Birmingham, with service running from Hooper City in the north to Oxmoor in the south. AT&T is available as far west as Wylam and reaches the eastern neighborhood of Huffman.

Service provider CenturyLink has a reliable network in the eastern part of Birmingham that mirrors the map of Centurylink Prism. However, they also cover parts of central Birmingham, including Thomas, Acipco-Finley, and Smithfield.

Those on the far eastern edges of Birmingham can choose Windstream for their high-speed internet.

The Charter cable network reaches most parts of Birmingham, excluding certain central and northern neighborhoods. Some of the areas that fall outside of the company_s network include Collegeville, Norwood, Kingston, and Woodlawn.

Through Brighthouse Networks, residents in almost every part of Birmingham can access high-speed internet. Some parts in the southern half of Birmingham are not within the Brighthouse Networks service area, however.

Every time my internet would "Buffer" due to overcast, rain, or wind the spinning ball would lock up. All I could do is shut everything down and re-boot, may or may not start up my show on Netflix (I'm the only one at home). Would call up customer service, get put on hold for 20-45 minutes (their hoping I will hang up) I set my phone on hands free and read book. Very dissatisfied with the customer service.

At first I had a lot of trouble with this company. I got talked into a much more expensive and troublesome plan(wifi) and almost had to pay a huge sum to fix their problems. I got a full credit and my bill is manageable again. Now everything runs smooth and I love the speed of my internet. I home school so the wifi is excellent for research etc.
