Franklin Residential Internet Coverage

Franklin is a small community with many residents (nearly 8%) who telecommute to their jobs. More than one-third of residents are living at or below the poverty line and the community on the whole is considered lower-middle class. Nearly 20% of residents are of Latino or Hispanic origin. The high number of telecommuters means that 100% of Franklin residents have access to high-speed internet, compared with 91% of North Carolina.

Cable from Morris Broadband and satellite from HughesNet are the only internet options in this area. Both reach 100% of homes.

Business have the same two providers to choose from, but Morris Broadband reaches only 3% of commercial enterprises.

Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

Started off 5 to 6 MB. Old old phone lines. Now they went to 3mb. Told me always been 3mb. I know what I had. I always trouble shooting dsl. There trying get people off old lines because they know wireless cell is were everyone going. But up in mountains little to no signal so someone needs to supply good internet.
