Verizon in New York
New York is the largest city in the United States, with a population of 8,175,133 people spread out through several boroughs. Verizon internet is one of the fastest-growing providers in the area. They provide internet, TV, wireless, and land-line phone service.
Verizon has been using DSL services until recently, but New York is one of the first states to begin receiving FiOS (fiber optic) services. FiOS internet is faster than DSL, and also provides for the highest quality picture and sound for other devices.
Internet Packages
Buyers have the choice between FiOS internet and regular DSL. FiOS internet comes in three speed options: 15/5 Mbps for general web surfing; 25/25 Mbps for streaming video and large downloads; and 50/20 Mbps for HD movie downloads or serious online gaming. DSL is slower but more affordable, although it may soon be phased out as FiOS technology takes over. A user always has the opportunity to upgrade from one package to the other and may be able to take advantage of an upgrade discount.
TV Services
FiOS TV boasts clearer picture and better quality than any other type of high-definition TV service. Verizon offers a variety of different packages in New York with some including up to 350 channels. Start-up costs are waived for customers who order online, and no contracts are required.
Phone Services
Landline services come in standard and FiOS packages. FiOS comes with 20 advanced calling features and unlimited domestic and residential calling. Verizon primarily markets its landline phone service as a bundled feature with other services. Verizon is also a popular wireless phone provider.
Deals & Bundles
The Verizon Triple Play package provides a deep discount for bundled services under the “triple play” deal, offering all three services for one price. Customers are normally required to sign a two-year contract to take advantage of the deal.
Verizon also offers the opportunity for users to build their own bundled service by mixing the internet and TV packages according to their needs, for example buying only phone and internet or only internet and TV.
