Wireless Cards
There is now a whole range of different ways that users can connect to the internet and although using a network card with a wired connection has been standard for quite a while an increasing number of users both at home and at work are now using a wireless card to access the internet. The constant advances in technology are making it far easier to set up and use a wireless card whilst at the same time increasing the speed of a wireless card to a level where it is now beginning to rival the speeds of a wired internet connection.
What do wireless cards offer users?
There are an increasing number of people who are looking to use their computers to do more and more things and using a wireless card is making these things a lot easier to achieve. The variety of different systems that are in many users’ homes means that there are now wireless cards for laptops and wireless cards for desktops, which means that no matter what system a user owns they can still get online wirelessly and set up a home network without the need for lengthy cabling.
The wireless protocol used for a wireless card is 802.11 and this protocol is followed by either a, b, g or n. These letters refer to the technology used on the card and each letter refers to the range limit of the wireless card and the speed that data can be transferred. The current standard protocols are either 802.11g or the new 802.11n which both provide the highest speeds of data transfer over the greatest distances.
The high speeds of data transfer that wireless cards are now capable of achieving allows users to use their wireless cards to perform tasks that would previously require the use of a network card using an Ethernet cable.
What are the benefits of using wireless internet cards?
Using a wireless card to access the internet is now just one of the many great facilities that are available to users. Users can now set up a wireless home network that allows them to transfer data between PCs and even stream media files like audio and video to their TV or the music system in any room in the house.
The recent advances in wireless technology now allows wireless cards to transfer data faster than ever before, at much greater distances and over a far more stable connection, which is why it is now possible to stream movies and music without having to constantly wait for the information to be sent wherever it needs to go.
Using a wireless card on a laptop also allows users to access the internet or wireless networks when they are not at home or at work and still get the same quality of service they would get from their regular connection and this makes it possible to do all the things that can be done over the home or office network whilst sat in a hotel or a coffee shop.
