USB Laptop Stick Review
There are currently three types of modem that are available to users when they are looking to access a mobile broadband service on a laptop and they are the USB modem dongle, the USB laptop stick and the USB laptop PCMCIA card. The most popular and widely used mobile broadband device at the moment is the laptop stick and this is mainly due to its compact size and ease of use.
How do users get online with their laptop sticks?
In order to get online with a mobile network provider users will need to take out a mobile broadband contract with the provider and they will then receive a laptop stick that will allow them to use the providers’ mobile network. For users to be able to access mobile broadband they will receive a USB laptop stick and a SIM card, which is the same as the SIM cards found inside mobile handsets that are used by the laptop stick to get onto the mobile network of the particular provider. Using the laptop stick simply requires the user to insert the SIM card into the laptop stick and then plug the laptop stick into the laptop. Once plugged in the user may need to install software that will be provided either pre-loaded onto the laptop stick itself or on a CD before they are able to use the laptop stick to access the providers’ mobile network. When all this has been completed users will be able to use the laptop stick to access the internet from anywhere a cell phone from the same provider will work.
What will USB laptop sticks cost to get?
There are now a wide range of different mobile broadband packages available for users to choose from just like there are with normal fixed-line broadband as many providers now have their own mobile phone network allowing them to provide users with this service. With more providers now offering mobile broadband services there is more competition between providers and this means getting a laptop stick is becoming cheaper than ever before. Many providers will only charge users for laptop sticks if they take out the most basic packages and will provide a laptop stick free of charge if users opt for the more expensive packages or those that have a longer contract length.
What advantages do laptop sticks provide?
Using a laptop stick to get online has a number of advantages but the biggest and most obvious is the freedom that it gives users when looking to get online when they are away from home or out of the office in the same way that wireless broadband give them freedom in their home or office. As well as allowing the laptop stick to access the internet using their mobile phone network many providers now offer wireless hotspot access to their users through their laptop stick and this allows users to access high-speed wireless broadband hotspots from a huge range of locations all over the US.
