Mobile Broadband Plans
There are many cheap mobile broadband plans available to US internet users. This is because mobile broadband, by its very nature, is able to better serve geographically vast countries like the US compared to either DSL or Wi-Fi as it uses the same mobile signal as a cell phone, which has a broader signal range. Its suitability means that mobile broadband providers are fighting to offer the very best mobile broadband plans at very competitive rates because it is widely perceived to be the mobile broadband technology that will be adopted by the majority of internet users in the future.
Capping cheap mobile broadband plans
However, the threat to consumers looking for cheap mobile broadband plans is that telecom companies have recently started capping what were previously unlimited deals. Once upon a time there was no shortage of mobile broadband providers offering cheap mobile broadband deals whereby service was unlimited. For a set monthly fee, mobile broadband users were able to use the web for surfing, socialising, downloading and working as much as they wanted, but last year Verizon and Sprint enforced a cap of 5GB. More recently Canadian provider Telus is insisting customers pay $65 a month for 1GB of consumption…no arguments.
At the moment some providers looking to sell their cheap mobile broadband plans are covering themselves regarding the back track on their ‘unlimited’ cheap mobile broadband plans by saying that anything above 1GB worth of downloads is deemed as excessive and beyond reasonable use. Whereas 1GB in today’s money seems plentiful and enough for the average user, the outlook may not be so bright. As we engage with our computers ever more and look to them for everything from watching TV to downloading photos and pictures, the current download limits set by cheap mobile broadband providers could soon seem very outdated.
It is still possible to find mobile broadband cheap!
There are, however, still plenty of vendors willing to sign you up to a cheap mobile broadband service that offers very good value for money and the key as always is to shop around. Do your research and know what you expect from your service supplier and remember that the best mobile broadband plans and cheap mobile broadband plans aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive of one other.
