ISP Providers

The term used to describe companies that provide users with access to the internet using a variety of different telecommunications networks that run through the country is ISPs or Internet Service Providers. Dial-up, DSL broadband, Fibre optic broadband, Cable broadband and mobile broadband are just a few of the technologies used by ISPs to provide access to the internet. Each user of the internet has their own individual needs and each of these connection types that ISPs provides offers particular benefits.

Who are the main ISPs in the US?

Due to the size of the country there is now a huge variety of ISPs in the United States and many of them cover specific regions of the country. AT&T and Verizon are the main DSL ISPs in the US whilst Comcast and Roadrunner are the main ISPs providing cable broadband. Verizon and AT&T currently offer broadband access at high-speed using either their copper wire telephone system or their expanding fibre-optic networks. The US cable ISPs like Roadrunner and Comcast offer high-speed broadband access using their own coaxial cable network.

At the moment the number of ISPs offering dial-up and broadband services in the US is vast and many of them use regional carriers to lease their lines. Among some of these ISPs are Qwest, Embarq, Clearwire, CenturyTel and Mediacom.

The mobile broadband ISPs are the final type of ISPs and they use the mobile phone network to offer their users access to the Internet. Many of the mobile broadband ISPs either have their own mobile network or rely on another provider network to offer users their mobile broadband services. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel and US Cellular are some of the main mobile broadband ISPs in the US.

Choosing between the various ISP companies

It can often be tricky choosing the best ISPs that will provide you with all the services you need for your broadband access. A huge range of packages are offered at varying prices by each of the ISP providers. Depending on what is required by each user there will be different ISPs that are considered to be the best, although finding the best cheap ISPs is made far easier with the help of broadband comparison sites and resellers of ISPs broadband packages. When you are looking for the perfect ISPs you will find that using broadband comparison sites makes it much easier because it allows you to filter the various ISPs into the ones that most suit your needs. Getting the best deals for ISPs can also be found by checking through the reseller sites or the websites of individual ISPs. Using the resellers and ISPs website search approach can often take far longer than using a broadband comparison site but using this method offers the benefit of being able to access every special offer and deal that the ISPs have to offer. This means that although broadband comparison sites make things quicker and easier the best deals can often only be found on ISPs or resellers websites.
