Con: Refusing to pay back money owed my deceased father

With drew monthly payments from deceased father’s account for over 3 years, to the amount of over d$4,000.00.
After many letters and conversations with comcast they admitted theire error but have now refused to return my calls or pay back money. They have clearly taken advantage of my elderly father who turned in his box at the age of 90, died shortly after, money still was being withdrawn till I discovered after my mother’s death. Are they moral people running that business and how are they able to get away with stealing deceased people’s money?

Con: Prices, Cust Service, no 1080p

My price changes every month this year from $87 to $144. They advertise “competition is the same old thing” I only wish I could have that type of pricing. The best picture from comcast to me is 1080i. I have all HD tvs capable of 1080p but do not get that picture performance. I can with an antenna. Customer service is terrible, on phone, online chat, and email. I will be changing to a different service.

Con: Everything

Received a flyer in the mail offering $14.99 per month for xfinity high speed internet. Since ATT u-verse just bumped my rate 50% after my first year I decided to give Comcast a call. That’s where the fun began.

The robo-receptron could not understand my phone number nor would she put me through to a live person. After recycling through the list of options several times, all to no avail, finally I made up a phony number and address, which she deemed acceptable.

The individual in the boiler room had even more difficulty understanding my real phone number and address, probably the result of his working in a loud environment with everyone around him shouting, and English not being his primary language.

Eventually, after repeating myself 20 times, he agreed to have someone call me back.

I’m still waiting.

I contacted ATT and complained about the price hike, and agreed to accept a call back, which came fifteen minutes later, where I was told that the promotional price would be reinstated for another year.

Based on my experience and those of the others on this site, I won’t be contacting Comcast again.

Pro: Paying for service that is crappy

Con: Download speeds up to 1Mb/s

Let’s see with xfinity cable I consistently have faster upload speed than download speeds. They gave me boost service which bumped me up to 2Mb/s downloads after midnight on the westcoast. Once I called customer service and they tried to fix my modem remotely but only ended up rendering the wireless modem dead. It would no longer broadcast wifi so I had to get a new modem. Only to end up with the same slow cable internet connection. To watch any video I have to be with 10ft of the modem otherwise my single device can’t download fast enough to keep up. Walk into another room and I have to wait 20-40s for a text heavy website with no other features to load. Absolutely crappy service. I will upgrade to DSL to faster service.

Con: Unreliable, costly, poor service, data cap, etc.

The only thing I found consistent about my Comcast service is their lack of reliability. Nevermind the constant Internet outages in the middle of the day, and even worse at night. There are frequent issues with the television channels. Unfortunately, they’re a geographic monopoly where I live. They seem to have a habit of praying on areas with little to no competition. So they can get away with their poor service. I spit in their general direction.

Comcast internet service is like something from the old
Soviet Union. The modem they provide apparently is WWII
surplus. Apparently, it uses old fashioned vacuum tubes, because when I try to get on the internet early in the morning, it takes a long time to warm up. The shitheads at Comcast have promised over and over that
they would send a new Modem, but they never have.
The service is slow, and unreliable. Their own website,
comcast.net is awful; sometimes I can’t access my e-mail. Their internet service constantly freezes up, and I have to use ‘force quit’ over and over. Comcast is just another huge Facist corporation whose motto is ‘cut costs and increase profits. They care absolutely nothing about their customers.

Con: Everything else!

Comcast is one of the worst business I have dealt with.
We signed a contract over a two year period.
After some time, I have noticed that Comcast has decreased (unauthorized) some TV channels. High speed internet Comcast claims, also disconnected frequently to the point of disrupting me from completing important tasks. Comcast also crept up in monthly billing amount. Some day, Comcast charged extra for modem rental, in which I personally own (I did not borrow the modem from Comcast). I called to correct the issue, but Comcast kept on stating otherwise. They asked when I purchased my own modem, whether I have the receipt or not. When I asked about the contract termination, Comcast claimed that it found the record of me having my own modem. Comcast tried so hard to apparently give me the “best offer” for “customer satisfaction”. I wanted to return the TV cable box. I called and the representative stated that I have 10 days grace period after the end of the service day to return the equipment. The representative said that someone will pick up the equipment in a week, and that I would not be charged. I kept the TV cable box for a week until someone picked up. I did not watch TV or use the internet, as I switched to the other company. Then, Comcast billed me extra (over $100.00) for holding the equipment for 7 days. I called and representative named Paul said that I was supposed to turn the equipment in by the end of the last service date. I kept on telling him that multiple Comcast representatives told me otherwise, and that as a company, Comcast had a responsibility to inform its customers correctly. He kept on saying that he’s sorry but won’t do the right thing whatsoever of not charging me of being wrongly informed. Comcast is one of the worst business out there. It’s highly unprofessional and keep seeking the opportunities to charge its customers more.

Comast is AWFUL!!! They take no responsibility for their workers’ words or actions, and frequently contradict one another to the detriment of your credit card. They will even admit that you cannot depend on them, one rep said, “I can’t tell you what another employee will do, they will probably mess it up if you talk to them now.” Another quote from their own employee, “I’ve heard it all, I would never get Comcast.” Never get Comcast.

Pro: There are pros?

Con: *

The speed is horrible. Internet connectivity drops randomly, sometimes for hours at a time. If you have home telephone service bundled with your internet, be prepared to go without a dialtone for these periods of time. The customer service representatives are polite–but not knowledgeable. I guess one pro is that they’re not located in India, but they might as well be. I once spent 25 minutes awaiting a download of 4MB from GOOGLE’s servers. Lemmie guess, Google was having a bad day? The prices are outrageous. You get double billed for modem returns so you have to watch your invoices for months even after canceling service. They try to lock you into multi-year contracts for their crappy service. They recently upped their modem rental service fee by 25%.

Con: Customer service - call centers

Comcast – Bait and Switch when applying credit/refunds.

7/15. My 6 year old son accidentally ordered a Showtime Boxing match. I called 4 minutes after the fight started to cancel and ask for a credit. The agent asked that I call back after Aug 10th. to confirm they reversed the charge. $49.99

Confirmation #: CR382601***

—–

Called back in 9.8 with bill in hand.

First line of customer service/billing said he could not issue the credit. I asked for a manager.

Manger: Sebastian ID 3610***

I can not give full credit as commuted to on 7/15 based on Confirmation # above = the notes do not reflect asking about the credit.

the notes actual words were: “ordered Pay Per View Boxing Match, accidentally ordered, wants a reversed.”

8/8 – Sebastian kept telling me that because the notes did not specifically say “customer wants a credit”, he would not issue a credit.

Call center is in Mexico. I stated that perhaps there was a language issue, as clearly the agent I talked to on 7/15 had the intent correct.

Definition of “Reversal”:
a change to an opposite direction, position, or course of action.
an annulment of a judgment, sentence, or decree

After about 5 minutes of back and forth, Sebastian said: Sorry, we can issue a $30 credit or you can wait for a call back from a supervisor in 3-5 days. He will tell you the same thing I am telling you now.

I said: Sorry, I am an unsatisfied customer. I need to hold to talk to a manager or need a full refund as promised on 7/15.

Repeat the above 2 paragraphs about 20 times…

After a 35 minutes, I recapped my reasons, logic and the weak argument against my position and Sabastion agreed to the full refund. He made the point that he will add the note on my account “that any future pay per view orders will not be refunded” on my account.

(I asked if there was a confirmation # or anything I could write down to confirm our conversation/credit and he said “no”. Billing does not have the ability to update customer notes and that I have to trust him that the credit would be applied.” Odd.)

I have low confidence a credit will be applied.

The conversation was confrontational, but respectful and non-emotional. We argued over 40 minutes for $20. We both wasted more in time than the dollar amount is worth. To me, it was on principal that Comcast should do what they said they would do.

Poor customer service. Comcast should have done what they originally confirmed on 7/15. Not the “bait and switch” method applied by the billing manager located outside the US.

I will look into taking my home and business accounts away from Comcast (cable, phone and internet at both).

Pro: Internet is pretty reliable and fast

Con: Phone service is moderate to poor

Our internet was awful and slow. One of our wireless equipment worked and our desktop. The internet service continually went down and I had to reset the equipment. We purchased a new wireless router to use with the router provided by Comcast for which are paying a fee to use to resolve this problem, now all of our wireless equipment works but we are still paying extra money for the lousy router. The phone service goes down unexpectedly at times with storms. Our telephone number comes up as the credit union on caller ID. We have requested this corrected for over a year and it is still not fixed. Our service just jumped again from $71.99 to $116.00 including tax. The cost kept creeping up from $49.99 to $116.00 this September and we have had their service for just over a year. I am looking for a new provider.

Pro: No choice

Con: monopoly

My comcast bill for internet went up $20 a month and I have no way of seeking an alternative because ATT (which I had thought the antitrust people had taken care of years ago) and comcast have a monopoly in the St Augustine area. Where aren’t our federal anti-trust and consumer protection laws being enforced? Both of these companies charge criminal (my opinion) and unconscionable (my neighbors’ opinions) rates and the consumer has absolutely no choice. This is not to mention their numerous illegal tying contracts that require you to purchase from them other equipment and services.- you either don’t want or would like to purchase elsewhere. I myself would use the free public library computers and do without Comcast but my family member insists on having internet at home.

My 83 year old Father changed to “Comcast” for his phone, TV, and internet service. They disconnected ALL existing services and left cables all over the floor and did not return. He had paid $269.00 for equipment and installation And $79.99 for service that he never received. He called from the neighbors and was on hold for an hour before he was disconnected.
He had a heart attack and died and my 89 year old Mother was unable to call for help. I called “Comcast” Monday ,the day he died, and they said they would try to get to it on Thursday. He had been without service of any kind for almost a month. He paid and received NO service. I wish bad things for “Comcast”. Con: not enough room here to write everything

No wonder this is the most hated company in America. Never before have I encountered a company who outright lies and deceives its own customers like Comcast does. For fifteen months I had the same recurrent technical issues with my cable/broadband internet/telephony bundle from Comcast. When it did work, the reception was by far inferior. When it didn’t work, which seemed like every other day, I was paying them for services I never received. And they bamboozeled me into a two year contract with a substantial early withdrawal penalty clause which wasn’t explained to me until after they got me to agree to it…how’s that for snake oil? SO after 15 months of excuses, the latest one is my building is wired with the “old” type of cable, and they’ve been using the “new” type of cable for years. I have a top flight A/V componentry set up and they’re now blaming everything on lousy coax cabling wired in my apartment building? Besides, they have a monopoly here in this part of the country and there’s no other option if you need cable broadband internet. I don’t want satellite…it isn’t allowed in this complex even if I did. My advice….stay far away from Comcast if you have another alternative. Otherwise…you’re f*cked!

Xfinity does Ok in the speed department. Sometimes it can be pretty fast (when the speedboost is active) most of the time it is just fair. I would probably have a better set-up if I would just have an expert come set it up professionally, but thats to expensive, (se what I mean, is it just Me) so I’ll live with it, it’s fine.
