Pro: Have internet service only and I keep getting letters to go with cable tv. Con: I have never dealt with so many lunkheads in my life. Tring to download a netflix, hulu, or vudu movies is a nightmare . Internet service either goes down or it is intermittent. Calls upon calls result in little or no help from charter. It is a disgrace to the industry to pay for 30mb with this lousy reception.

I cannot recommend charter to anyone

Pro: None Con: Unreliable

Fortunately I have a Verizon wireless modem, which I end up using for what seems like half the time - Charter's connection is very unreliable and the speeds are generally slower than my Verizon connection. Don't use them unless you have no other choice. I never thought I'd miss AT&T DSL but I've finally found something worse!

Pro: no service outages Con: takes advantage and cheats customers

I called to upgrade from 15 to 30mbs internet speed two years ago. Two years later I find out that my modem was only made to pull 15. Not once during that phone call two years ago did they mention I needed an upgraded modem but it has been okay because they were getting double the money from me and I was getting half the service still.I have a new modem now and all they could do is give me a 20 dollars credit to my bill for three years of cheating me.

Pro: I am not a customer of Charter Con: everything

Yesterday, several guys came by and wanted to know why I am not using Charter and who I am using. They told me this and that and so forth about why I should get charter and the billions in upgrades to the charter system. My UHF/VHF gives me free TV including locals channels and PBS which is just fine with me. My phone service is a land line and internet is tied to landline but it costs me $80 pm. So after reading these comments which cons far outweigh the pros, I will stick with what I got. Thanks for letting me know.

Pro: better than nothing I guess haha though I've had better phone internet in other cities Con: always changing internet speeds

First internet package $34.99 a month for 2 year service agreement for anywhere from 15 to 30 mbps speed, then the service agreement runs out and have to pay over $50.00 a month, won't give you another deal because you are a current customer so then all a sudden I notice It seem to be slowing down, don't seem to load like it use to, no matter how many things I clear or get rid of, so I check with speed test its running at 11 mbps so I'm like wth so I call an ask how many mbps am I suppose to be running at they give a number like between 10 to 15, I was like what when I first got this it was between 15 an 30 so you all can just down grade people and make them pay more for getting less, was told o you can upgrade to get better, that's not the point the point was I originally was suppose to get between 15 an 30, so then I move the guy who comes out is great and has to run a new wire, it didn't take him long for what he had to do and it was up and running in no time, but he did mention I didn't have a charter modem, and I told him it was because I had bought charters from them when I first had it hooked up but it started messing up so someone gave me one and it worked great so I've been using it ever since, he did say however that I probably would get better service with their modem,(good upsale try bud) and now since I have had it up an running it just barely wants to run, my computer has just been reformatted and everything wiped out so I know it does not have a bunch of junk on it and I do not down load a lot of things so none of that is the problem, so I'm sitting here an thinking what in the world is the problem so I do a speed test on it and it comes up running at 9 mbps, they are like the wind with their wind changing speed and prices they will blow you to lower their speed to make you upgrade for a little bit more power then blow you down in a few more months to make you upgrade more later, the fcc should make them put on everyone's bill how many exactly mbps they are paying for, and they should definitely not be able to switch you to lower speed with out your knowledge and make you pay the same price. And if you ever ask about it they like to play dumb like what you mean do you really think we would do something as dishonest as that, duh Now they may say it's because I don't have their modem but guess what I had this at the other house and it was working fine till right before my agreement ran out that I noticed the change in my mbps to 11, then I move and the guy mentions my modem and now I'm running at 9. To be honest when I had lived in another city I had dial up that runs better than what I have now and if that dial up ever comes over this way you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be getting it, you only stay on the top in business if your giving the best at a fair price other wise when other competition comes in and sweeps away your customers fast you lose them for good, when your giving a good product for a fair price, most often they know they have it good and will not stray, oh yeah there will be some customers to try the others when they come in but will always come back to a consistent plan with a fair price.

Pro: none Con: only cable

Every month we go through the same problem, and every month we get the same lame people telling us the same lame thing. If any other cable or internet company could give us service I would get it. They lie and never give what they say they are going to give.

Charter has been providing our internet service for over a year now. I switched over from a larger company, after I got fed up with slow unreliable speeds and horrible customer service. So far I cannot complain, the speed is decent with great reliability all day long. I'm very surprised how great the connection can be even when both my daughters hog up the bandwidth on their computers. Great overall provider, I highly recommend charter

Pro: n/a Con: changing $$ without notification

Horrible customer service!!! When u call to sign up every person you talk to will tell you different promotion-so you think you are getting a deal, but once you see a bill it will be different every time! I would rather have no internet than deal with such unprofessional company! what a waste of time!!! Not only there is no other options in the location I live right now, but the options I can get are ridiculous! They increased my bill without asking me and it was only the first month I had the service. I don't even know where to start with their customer service! I would never recommend Charter!

Pro: are u kidding me?? Con: everything!

when i first signed up, i was paying around $24/month. then after six months, it increased to around $51/month. after a year, they increased it to $54/month. i wouldn't mind the price increase if they could have provided decent internet connection. lately, i have been having EXTREMELY slow connections. i couldn't even watch youtube or netflix. i called customer service talked to a non-human tech support which was NO HELP AT ALL! so now i just subscribed to verizon internet and will be cancelling charter as soon as i get verizon. charter sucks BIG TIME. i could not imagine an internet company that could get any worst.

Pro: fast, but not enough to deal with cost Con: rapidly changing price per month

Charter runs specials for new customers, yet their old customers get a run around and their cable bills continue to go higher and higher. This summer mine went up $80.00 a month. I do not have movie channels or HD TV. Charter's explanation - my promotion ran out in the middle of June and since they bill a month in advance, I should have contacted them, and they would have offered me another promotion. Seriously???? I am sick of this happening at least once or twice a year! They are the only cable company in my area, but I am now considering using Netflixs and buying an antenna to view my local channels. Charter has a monopoly and takes advantage of long term customers.

Pro: service is adequate for my needs Con: they have a monopoly!

My main complaint is that they have a monopoly in Woodbury CT. There is nothing else available out here. I got an introductory rate with basic cable, internet and local phone service only, advertised price was $59.95 but I had to pay extra for high speed internet. They add on a lot of fees and maintenance charges and the bill is about $85 a month. I have to renew soon, but their offers are based on whether you are a new customer or an existing one, in which case they will jack up the price to about $125 for what I have now, plus all the fees and extras with a 2 year contract. The bill will almost double. It seems there is no recourse here for the consumer but to pay or go without.
