It has been announced recently that communications giant Sprint has partnered with BL Healthcare to improve consumer access to healthcare services.
Having broadband access has enabled many people to enjoy improved access to a wide range of services in the United States and in other parts of the world. It has now been announced that the communications giant Sprint has teamed up with healthcare provider BL Healthcare to use 3G connectivity to improve access to healthcare services and remote health management.
A number of options are currently offered by BL Healthcare that will enable patients to receive medical care security in a range of places such as their homes, at work, or in nursing homes. The service allows the most appropriate medical professional to deliver the car needed remotely, which is a huge benefit for patients.
Michael Mathur, president and CEO of BL Healthcare, said: “We believe Sprint’s unique combination of network assets and open architecture provide key components in the development of next-generation of remote health care-related services. We are excited to enter this partnership with Sprint and develop a new standard for health care management that offers dramatic improvements in the overall quality and efficiency of health care while reducing costs.”
William Dunstan, vice president of home health services with Lancaster General Health, said: “Wireless technologies, 3G and 4G in particular, have really established telemedicine systems as the future of health care. With functionality such as embedded multipoint videoconferencing, multimedia support, instant messaging, real-time alerts, and the ability to communicate with multiple wired and wireless vital sign measurement and peripheral medical devices hospitals and home health agencies are able to reduce costs while greatly improving the quality of care.”
