It has been revealed that the unlimited data mobile broadband plan from Virgin USA has proven so popular that the company has changed the cost – increasing it by ten dollars!
Over recent years the competition amongst mobile broadband providers has continued to increase and intensify. This has created more competition in the market and for consumers has resulted in the mobile broadband services becoming more affordable as the tough competition has helped to drive down the cost of using this technology.
Virgin Media USA has recently announced some changes to its pricing. The company said that when it came to mobile broadband services its $40 unlimited data plan was “overwhelmingly popular.” However, rather than reducing the price of the plan the provider has decided to increase the cost, taking it up by ten dollars a month to $50.
In addition to this the media giant reduced the plan to 5GB of data in February, saying that it was due to an overloaded internet. However, this has now been further reduced to 2.5GB per month. Once that level is reached customers “may experience slower download speeds until the end of that monthly cycle” according to Virgin.
Many people have been angered by the announcements, which were made on the company’s Facebook page. Those that are already on the plan prior to the most recent changes will keep their 5GB allowance but new customers will not be able to get it. Existing customers will continue on the plan as normal until further notice according to Virgin, with a spokesperson stating: “We do, however, always reserve the right to implement network management practices to ensure optimal performances for all subscribers as necessary.”
