Nokia Siemens expects US to flourish in mobile broadband market

An official from Nokia Siemens Networks has stated that the company  expects the United States to be at the forefront of mobile broadband growth next year.

It has been announced by an executive from Nokia Siemens Networks that the company is expecting the United States to be at the forefront of mobile broadband growth over the next year. The Nokia official said that the company could not see any other country being able to take this role from the United States, and that demand for mobile broadband was being driven by the huge popularity of smart phones.

Nokia Siemens CMO Bosco Novak said: “Yes, I don’t see any other region that would take that role from them. Demand in the U.S. is being driven by smartphones. … They have become a must-have item for the middle-class consumer.” He also added that overall capital expenditure by operators was likely to remain stable next year, stating: “I think that compared to a year ago, there is a much more stable confidence there. This is a sober, solid recovery. Not too hyper but also clearly not depressed.”

With smart phones now flying off the shelves in the United States operators are said to be working on their plans for next generation mobile broadband networks, with providers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile USA working on plans to expand mobile broadband networks across the United States.

Another recent report has shown that the popularity of smart phones amongst mobile internet users has become such that these devices are now topping many Christmas wish lists.
