Free in-flight WiFi from Virgin America

Broadband and media giant Virgin has launched a free WiFi service on its Virgin America airlines having joined forces with Google.

It has been announced that travellers that are jetting off with Virgin America will be getting a free in-flight WiFi service thanks to a new venture between the American airline and Google. The new deals means that passengers that want to use their WiFi enables devices during a flight will be able to do so at no charge, which will prove highly convenient for many travellers especially those travelling on business.

The free WiFi service is to be put into place during the holiday season, and those travelling with Virgin America between November 10th and January 15th of next year will be able to enjoy the convenience of the free in-flight service. It is also claimed that passengers that use the service will be able to enjoy similar speeds to those that achieve whilst on the ground, with one official from Google stating that consumers should “expect to experience speeds similar to the mobile broadband experience on the ground.”

One spokesperson for Google said: “Whether it’s using Gmail to confirm an airport pick up time with your brother, doing some last minute gift shopping for your niece on Google Product Search or searching Google.com for a good sweet potato pie recipe before touchdown — we hope this makes it a bit easier to stay connected with family and friends while you’re up in the air.”

With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up many people are likely to be travelling on the airline to spend time with friends and family, in addition to those that might be travelling on business, so there will be many people that will be able to take advantage of this fee WiFi service whilst on their flight.
