Communicator 1000 mobile hotspots rolled out by Wireless Matrix

An announcement was recently made by equipment manufacturer, Wireless Matrix, of its state-of-the-art integration of Wireless LAN, 3G cellular broadband and GPS technologies in a single platform that will be vehicle mounted, known as Communicator 1000 mobile hotspot.

The release of this new device is said to be building on the tradition of innovation that saw the company produce the multimode satellite/cellular Mobile Base Station (MBS) communication device, said Wireless Matrix.

With the combination of Super G 802.11b/g wireless LAN technology to allow both secure and fast WLAN communications through a cellular service and the provision of accurate and rapid vehicle positioning using a 50-channel highly sensitive GPS receiver the Communicator 1000 for both AT&T’s HSUPA broadband and Verizon Wireless‘ EvDO Rev-A broadband networks.

In order to provide real-time vehicle management, Wireless Matrix’s Fleet Outlook® solution with navigation and two-way messaging provided by the TechConnect(™) module will be integrated into the Communicator 1000. A full-featured platform that that identifies any significant impacts to costs and fleet operations, tracks the use of vehicles and manages technician activities will be offered by this unit as a result.

With a single wireless plan laptops of other computer devices will be able to obtain high-speed broadband access to the Internet or Intranet through this device.

To allow the device to connect seamlessly with other satellite devices from Wireless Matrix like the SDM-5000, the MBS-1000 and the MBS2 there is a Satellite Sidecar™ included on the unit to allow the extension of communications in remote areas.

Expansion and upgrading in the field is built into the design of the Communicator 1000 with field-accessible communications modules, internal expansion board and PCI Express Mini Card slot, eight external expansions and firmware that remotely updates itself. Full speed communications between 4G broadband technologies like LTE and WiMAX, and 802.11G simultaneously are also part this unit’s state-of-the-art design.
