The main focus of the FTTH Conference and Expo 2009 will be the building of loyalty from subscribers in the current highly competitive marketplace and the generating of revenue from next-generation, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks.
The FTTH Conference and Expo 2009 has been scheduled for 27th September to 1st October 2009 and will be held at the George R Brown Convention centre and the Hilton-Americas Houston in Houston, TX.
Around 2000 executives from a range of FTTH service providers, which include municipalities, utilities, telecoms and cable companies, as well as the main decision makers from other areas of the broadband industry like optical access equipment manufacturers, are expected to be attending this event.
Marketing strategies and practical information that should help operators to move to the next level of business success with their networks will be provided under the ‘Build the Business of FTTH’ banner. A one-stop information center on the initiatives program for broadband of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be part of the services provided at the conference.
The fibre-to-the-home Council, which has had a key role in the shaping the programs and stimulus legislation, will be able to offer information regarding the changing procedures and processes for gaining access the funds these programs will make available during a number of panel discussions and presentations.
At the closing general session on Wednesday 30th September there will also be an update for attendees on the guidelines that have been laid out for the funds to be distributed through the broadband stimulus program from the agency, by the recently-nominated Administrator of the US Rural Utilities Service, Jonathan Adelstein.
There will also be discussion as to how the game has been changed for Verizon with the introduction of fiber to the home, which will increase the products that will be offered by the company, allowing for the creation of new opportunities for growth through innovation and make it more competitive within its marketplace, and will be led by the opening keynote speaker Richard Lynch, the Executive Vice President and CTO of Verizon Communications.
The President of the FTTH Council, Joe Savage said “This conference will be focused on two vitally important areas. One is the business success that both large and small telephone companies are having in providing enhanced television and Internet services over end-to-end fiber networks. And the other involves the enormous opportunities that the federal broadband stimulus programs are offering for telecom providers to upgrade to FTTH or expand their existing networks.”
