Recently released data has suggested that since 2006 there has been no growth in the number of adults in the United States that are using the Internet.
Most people would be quick to assume that with increased technology such as broadband services more and more people would be getting online and using the Internet in the United States. However, figures that were recently released have suggested that since 2006 there has been no change in the number of adults that are using the Internet in America.
The survey was carried out by Harris Interactive, and because the research is based on the use of the Internet from a variety of locations such as work places, homes, school, public places, etc, it does provide a wider picture of internet usage levels. However, its findings showed that there had been no significant change to the number of adults that were using the Internet since 2006.
The figures showed that in 2006 eight one percent of survey respondents said that they used a PC and seventy seven percent said that they had Internet access. This remained more or less consistent in 2007 and 2008, as well as this year, where eighty two percent of respondents said that they had a PC and eighty percent said that they had internet access.
There are a number of reasons that officials are stating could be responsible for the lack of significant change in numbers amongst adults in the United States. However, one of these is that the Harris poll looks at PC internet usage, and some officials believe that more people may be using mobile broadband services.
