More Americans reading their news online

A recent report has shown that a rising number of Americans are now reading their news online, which could mean increased risk for traditional print newspapers.

There was a time when reading the news involved heading to the local shops to pick up the morning paper or getting the paper delivered. However, advancements in technology have changed the way in which many Americans do many things, and reading the news is one of them. With many households in the United States now having access to broadband service a rising number of Americans have taken to going online to catch up on the latest news.

According to a recent report the Internet has become the third most popular source amongst Americans of finding out what has been happening in the world through the news, and this has pushed traditional print newspapers down to fourth place. Industry figures that were recently released showed that sixty one percent of Americans had become reliant on the Internet as their main source of access to the daily news.

There are many reasons why people may have started to go online to read up on the news rather than opting for the print newspaper. One reason is that they do not have to go to the trouble or ordering delivery of newspapers or going out to get a paper each day, as they can simply relax at their computer, sit back, and browse through the news.

Another reason is that many find it easier to target the type of news stories that they are interested in when using the Internet, such as entertainment, politics, business news, etc. Finally, going online to read the news saves consumers money as they do not have to pay for print newspapers or pay for delivery of their papers.
