An LTE (Long-Term Evolution) monitoring system that is similar to the Iris range of products and works on evolved packet core (EPC) networks has recently been launched by telecoms company Tektronix.
Amongst the products that will be included in the new LTE monitoring system from Telstra is a common platform that provides an integrated framework for any current or future applications all in one place, the new analyser applications and the GeoProbe G10, which is a new 10GE probe.
As well as fully supporting any operators that are migrating from 3GPP (GMS/UMTS) and 3GPP2 (CDMA) technologies the LTE EPC system provides a number of troubleshooting capabilities for operators to use according to claims from the company.
A set of tools that collect media and signalling data running over the network, correlates this data and then provides an analysis tool for troubleshooting and monitoring the network has been made available to mobile network operators claims Tektronix. With the company already offering operators products like NSA and K2Air, the new LTE EPC system is a great addition to the company’s range and is likely to prove invaluable for many companies and operators.
The vice president and general manager of network management at Tektronix Communications, Mark Dreidger advised “Tektronix Communications’ LTE EPC monitoring solution provides operators with a scalable, end-to-end monitoring solution that can grow as their network expands or as new technologies or enhancements become available.”
He went on to add “In addition, our solution supports multiple 2G/3G/4G technologies and interfaces, so operators who are planning to roll-out LTE alongside their existing legacy networks will be able to leverage many of the same tools and workflows to ensure that their network and services are running smoothly and profitably.”
