Internet safety group joined by Time Warner Cable

Whilst having broadband and internet access is of great benefit to consumers in the United States there are also dangers associated with the Internet that both adults and children need to be wary of.

There is no doubt that having access to the Internet and high speed broadband has benefitted families in the United States in many ways. For adults, this access means that they are able to get online to enjoy entertainment, read the news, shop, find and book services, look for jobs, and much more. For kids broadband gives them access to a wide range of educations resources and tools as well as entertainment opportunities.

However, there are dangers that are associated with the Internet, which both adults and children are at risk from, and one group, the Family Online Safety Institute, is committed to trying to make the Internet a safer place for both children and their parents. It has now been announced that Time Warner Cable has joined the Family Online Safety Institute, joining other corporate giants such as AT&T and Verizon.

An official from the Family Online Safety Institute stated: “We are very excited to welcome Time Warner Cable into our growing member base as we strive to develop effective tools, rules and educational programs in schools to make the Internet safer. We look forward to the valuable input and perspective that a company of this size and reach can offer and are eager to share our expertise and resources with Time Warner Cable in order to help them achieve their commendable online safety goals.”

A senior official from Time Warner Cable added: “Ensuring that our customers have a safe Internet experience is a top priority for Time Warner Cable. Working with FOSI will help us continue to create simple and easy ways to manage that experience, by providing families the tools that help them shape their own experience in the way that they see fit.”
