It has been announced that two companies are showing support for the National Broadband plan to promote online learning through the provision of a new application that will enable students to enjoy increased flexibility when it comes to learning
One of the major focuses of the National Broadband Plan is to help promote and implement online learning to a greater degree, and with more and more students becoming more and more reliant on mobile devices to get information and even to manage their everyday lives and activities the ability to engage in online learning on a more regular and effective basis has become more and more popular.
Two companies have now shown support for this element of the National Broadband Plan by providing an application that will enables students to learn where and when they want, which means that students can get more from their mobile device and enjoy increased flexibility and convenience. The two companies, which are Sprint and Blackboard Inc, have formed a partnership and will be offering Blackboard Mobile Learn to those with Sprint devices with no additional cost being charged to institutions.
Michael L. Chasen, Blackboard’s president and CEO, stated: “Campuses are seeing increased demand from students and faculty who want to do more on their mobile devices. By partnering with Sprint we’re making it easy for clients to get started fast, without having to worry about start up costs that might otherwise delay progress in this important area.”
Danny Bowman, president of Integrated Solutions at Sprint, added: “Learning is a deeply personal act and the better the experience the better the results. Together, powered by a dependable 3G network and rapidly expanding 4G network, Sprint and Blackboard are leading a new era of innovative mobile learning where student experiences are relevant, reliable and engaging.”
