Broadband grant awarded to Florida Rural Broadband Alliance

It has been reported that a federal stimulus grant has been awarded to the Florida Rural Broadband Alliance to expand broadband and improve a range of services.

According to recent reports a multi-million dollar grant has been awarded to the Florida Rural Broadband Alliance to enable the expansion of broadband networks and services, and to improve a range of services through this expansion. The federal stimulus grant was announced by the Department of Commerce, and was the sum of nearly twenty four million dollars.

The aim of the grant and the expansion is to help improve services such as education, safety services, public health, and economic development opportunities. The grant that has been awarded is part of the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program, which is aimed at expanding broadband services and access across the United States.

Robert Sheets, CEO Government Services Group, said: “This public private partnership represents a new model for business. In a real and tangible way, this network will connect two geographically distant areas in ways that will improve the quality of life and business opportunities in them both.”

Rick Marcum, Executive Director of Opportunity Florida, said: “This shows how together we can do so much more than we can alone. Our economic development efforts will take a giant leap forward. The Opportunity Florida region has some of the most beautiful real estate in Florida. We have committed leaders and business interests. With high-speed broadband access, we’ll be extremely competitive in the marketplace for good jobs, enhanced education and health care. Our future is wide open.”
