February 3rd, 2010 by Jo

Telecommunications and broadband giant Verizon has recently reported strong growth levels for the fourth quarter of last year with its broadband services as well as in other areas.

It has recently been reported by the telecommunications and broadband giant Verizon that the company enjoy strong growth in the final quarter of last year. The company claims that it saw a growth is sales and revenue in both its fibre based broadband services and in other areas. The company said that although the financial and economic climate in 2009 was a challenging one it had taken steps to ensure that it could go from strength to strength.

The figures that were released by Verizon showed that overall the company had added over two million new customers in total, which included over one million retail customers. Increased sales of strategic business services as well as customer gains with its broadband services helped to add to its growth for the fourth quarter of last year.

Verizon’s chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg stated: “In last year’s turbulent economy, we took significant steps to strengthen Verizon going forward. We focused on expanding wireless data and set the stage to deploy a nationwide 4G network later this year. We also expanded the scale of FiOS and our global IP network. We saw growth in all these areas in 2009, and we expect continued growth in 2010 and beyond, with a goal of delivering long-term shareowner value.”

He added: “Our fourth-quarter earnings reflect costs to re-size and simplify our wireline business. This transformation is realigning our wireline cost structure, improving productivity, and focusing resources on sales of FiOS and strategic business services. Verizon Wireless also underwent a successful transformation in 2009. Our customer base moved more toward data-centric devices and services, and we are successfully integrating Alltel operations and capturing merger synergies.”
