It has been announced that Houston now has access to Sprints 4G services, which will enable those in the area to enjoy faster and more reliable broadband services.
Whilst 3G networks have enabled business and casual users to benefit from the freedom, flexibility, and convenience of getting online whilst out and about using 3G enabled devices the huge demand for these services and the high number of people using mobile broadband services and devices such as smart phones has resulted in the 3G network capacity becoming overstretched.
However, business and casual users in Houston could start enjoying a more reliable, speedier mobile broadband service with the benefits of 4G broadband thanks to the Sprint 4G service, which has been made available in the area. The availability of 4G networks in the area means that users will be able to benefit from 4G enabled devices such as the recently launched HTC EVO, which boasts 3G and 4G connectivity.
Officials from Sprint said: “With today’s launch, Sprint makes Texas the ‘biggest 4G state’ in terms of the number of people who have access to the Sprint mobile network. In addition to Houston, the 4G network is currently operating in Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, San Antonio, Waco and Wichita Falls. Nationwide, Sprint boasts 28 markets that have 4G capability today.”
John Stevens, Southwest regional vice president at Sprint, said: “Today, we flipped the switch to make fast mobile broadband even faster for Houston. Customers will discover that 4G technology allows all kinds of new possibilities for Internet-on-the-go – streaming video, online gaming, video conferencing. There is nothing else like the 4G experience from any other wireless carrier and now Texas is number one in 4G connectivity.”
