Following the release of results from a recent survey it appears that a rising number of consumers would be happy to pay more for a better quality mobile broadband service.
A recent survey was carried out by Comptel Corporation, and the results showed that more than half of mobile broadband users would be happy to pay extra for a better quality service with faster speeds. Mobile broadband has really taken off over recent years, with more and more casual and business broadband users benefitting from the technology.
However, speeds can sometimes be an issue when it comes to mobile broadband, and many people are keen to see 4G broadband services rolled out so that they can enjoy faster speeds and improved reliability on their broadband service. The survey showed that around three in five consumers were prepared to pay more for a better quality mobile broadband service.
According to the results of the survey seventy four percent of those responding to the survey said that they would pay more money just for faster download speeds from their mobile broadband service. Sixty one percent said that they would like their mobile broadband providers to offer bespoke price plans and services. More than eighty percent wanted just one bill to cover all of their broadband access needs and services.
One official said: “Eighty-seven percent of consumers see QoE (quality of experience) as the driver that will influence their allegiance to their CSP, and the majority of them would not only move but also pay more money for faster and personalized services. This consumer-driven demand for a better mobile broadband experience is a tremendous revenue opportunity for CSPs. Policy and charging control can help them optimise QoE — smoothing data usage more evenly across their networks, while dynamically adapting and simplifying service bundles based on individual customers’ wants or needs, and introducing progressive pricing strategies that monetise this consumer demand.”
