Just about every wireless company has programs where they give something back to the communities they serve.  AT&T is no different.  In fact they may be going above what others, or even themselves, have done in the past.

Each year, this tournament raises millions of dollars for hundreds of Northern California non-profit groups.  In the past 27 years, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has raised over $81 million.

This year, they are looking at breaking the $100 million mark.  This means they will have to raise at least $19 million at this year’s tournament.

The Chief of Operations for the PGA Tour, Andy Pazder, said “Reaching the $100 million milestone in charitable giving will be a tremendous accomplishment and a tribute to the tireless efforts of everyone involved with the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am to make a meaningful difference through the tournament. The PGA TOUR congratulates the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, Pebble Beach, AT&T and the tournament staff and volunteers for everything they’ve done to make a difference in so many lives.”

Past and present people who have played the tournament include D.A. Points, Bill Murray, Tony Romo, Josh Duhamel, George Lopez, Rush Limbaugh, Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods.

AT&T is providing Wi-Fi connections at selected locations throughout Pebble Beach including the AT&T Digital Clubhouse.  Unlike Verizon who provided free Wi-Fi to all the Super Bowl attendees, people surrounding the stadium and downtown, AT&T plans to charge non-AT&T customers for the Wi-Fi access.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am started last Monday and is continuing throughout the weekend.
