A lot of DROID fans have been waiting for the Motorola DROID 4 with its built-in powerhouse features and creature comforts.  Best of all it, is available at Verizon this Friday, February 10th for just $199.99, a 2-year contract and data plan of your choice.

Just plug the DROID 4 into any HDMI-equipped TV or monitor and you have a large-screen theater right from your phone.  You will have no problems streaming HD movies with up to 12 Mbps 4G LTE download speeds.

All of you ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) lovers will have to wait a bit because the DROID 4 is equipped out of the box with Gingerbread (Android 2.3.5).  Verizon is promising a future upgrade to ICS, so it is definitely coming.

The DROID 4 is ready for work too.  The built-in FIPS 140-2 government-approved encryption should please even the most finicky IT department.  It will keep your email, contact information and calendar appointments secret.

Desktop virtualization and access is accomplished with the built-in Citrix Receiver app.  You can even make presentations from your DROID 4 by plugging into an HDTV at the office or customer site.

The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is robust and easy to use for plenty of messaging and serious typing.  DROID users have been longing for this return, and as an added bonus, you can use it in the dark and low-light conditions when making presentations or attending meetings.

When you are on the road, the Motocast app allows streaming documents and video from your work computer or laptop so you do not need to store your entire document collection on your phone.  There is a front-facing camera for video chats and meetings and an 8 MP camera that can also record up to 1080p HD video.

The DROID 4 is compatible with the Lapdock 500 for the convenience of using a full-size keyboard and the 14-inch monitor.

Here’s a shout-out to Brigitte!  Thanks for tipping me off about this.

Another friend, who wants to remain anonymous, mentioned you may want to ask about the double data plan that may be available with any 4G LTE handset purchase.  You could double that 2 GB plan to 4GB at the same $30 a month charge.
