CenturyLink to spend $20 million in New Mexico

CenturyLink is going to invest at least $20 million into broadband improvements and expansion in the State of New Mexico.  After their merger with Qwest, they are now the biggest communications provider in New Mexico.

CenturyLink logo2 300x169 CenturyLink to spend $20 million in New MexicoNew Mexico is certainly happy with this announcement.  Pat Lyons the chairman of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission said “This investment by CenturyLink to expand broadband services in New Mexico is an effective way for the company to introduce itself to the state… We look forward to the additional resources and opportunities that this increased Internet connectivity made possible by CenturyLink will provide the people of New Mexico.”

The VP and GM for CenturyLink in New Mexico, Valerie Dodd, said “combined company now has the financial strength, national breadth, and local depth to provide a compelling array of broadband products and high bandwidth services in New Mexico.”

This $20 million investment is above and beyond the money spent on normal improvements and expansion of its existing telecommunications network.  The expenditure will take place over the next couple of years and the customer base, both the existing and new customers will see marked improvements in speed and quality of their broadband services.

The CenturyLink operations group has already been analyzing New Mexico’s broadband network presence to determine where the improvements and expansion will be rolled out.
