Here is the skinny on NFL Mobile on Verizon just in time for this weekend

A couple of days ago I wrote about using Verizon’s NFL Mobile App.  I reminded you to check your data plan before using this app.

Data charges are miserable if you go over your data cap.  For example, if you have the 2 GB data plan, you will probably pay $20 in overage charges for the six hours of streaming for this weekend’s NFL games.

Then I pointed out some fine print “A monthly charge or a VCAST video package may be required for streaming video content.”  The word “may” always bothers me as it usually means will or must anytime it has applied to me.

So here is the skinny: The VCAST is required for getting the “premium” features like live streaming.  OK, so if you want to watch the live streaming, you will have to buy the VCAST video package.  The good news (depending on your view) is the VCAST package is only $10 per month.

So, I think I will get the package for this weekend and keep it around for the Superbowl.  So my two-month VCAST will set me back a pair of sawbucks.  Not too bad.

I found out this by going on line and asking the question of what “may” really meant and I got back the answer I expected (“must”) and a lot more information in an informative email. I want to thank Larry, the Verizon guy, for the response.
