DROID X update has arrived on Verizon and installation is easy

Today I was asked to update my DROID X to 4.5.605.  I am on Verizon with this smartphone.

DSC 4591 DROID X update has arrived on Verizon and installation is easyVerizon said the update was to fix a keyboard problem.  I have fat fingers and recipients of my emails sent from my phone have had to endure the wrath of my FFS (Fat Finger Syndrome) in my missives.

The on-screen keyboard supposedly has some problems, but Verizon/Motorola has not described (at least that I can find) what exactly the update fixes.  I don’t know if it will make my FFS any better.

Installing the update was a piece of cake.  I just touched the Install now box on the screen and it did the rest.

The first thing it did was shut down.  It went dark for a bit then the red Motorola logo appeared.

After that, the Android unpacker showed for a while followed by another red Motorola logo.

A dull DROID “eyeball” appeared and started staring at me.  Then it turned into the familiar animated red DROID icon.

I finally get an Update Status box that told me the update was successful.  That was relatively painless except for focusing the camera on the screen to rapidly take the pictures before they changed.

The whole process took five minutes or so.  I didn’t time it.

Now I’ll have to spend a couple of days testing to see if my FFS is tolerated better on the new keyboard.
