4G Wireless Internet Technology
It is now becoming increasingly clear to most US mobile broadband providers that the rise in data use over their current 3G networks is beginning to have a significant effect on both the stability and speed of connections to their network. In order to combat this providers are looking to improve their current network by upgrading it with a next generation technology like 4G wireless internet. The rollout of 4G wireless internet technology will be designed to provide a mobile broadband network with the capacity to support a much larger number of users and also to allow for far greater amounts of data to be transferred over the network without affecting the mobile broadband performance or the user’s experience. Users will also benefit from significant increases to broadband connection speeds over any mobile broadband network using 4G wireless internet technology.
What changes will mobile broadband undergo when 4G wireless internet becomes available?
When providers upgrade their networks from the current 3G to 4G wireless internet there will be a number of significant changes to the mobile broadband services they will offer. This will include much faster connection speeds and far more network capacity, which will enable providers to support a far greater number of mobile broadband devices and handle much larger quantities of data over their networks. All this will allow users to enjoy a connection quality similar to that of a standard fixed line broadband connection in terms of speed and reliability but with the advantage of being free to use their service wherever they want.
Another benefit that 4G wireless internet users will enjoy is the greater levels of coverage the new service will provide once it is rolled out across the US. The size of the country has made it difficult for many network providers to offer coverage for users living in the more remote or rural areas but with 4G wireless internet the extended coverage range will provide these locations with a high speed mobile broadband connection and for many users with little or no fixed line broadband access it may even provide a viable option for getting online instead of paying for the more expensive alternatives that are currently available.
Which technologies will be competing to offer 4G wireless internet services?
Competition to provide the next generation of broadband technology in the US is currently quite heated and the main runners fighting to provide 4G wireless internet to providers are LTE and WiMAX. Whilst both technologies offer a similar range of features and benefits the technologies that these systems use are very different as is the amount of work that will be required to build the technologies into the current infrastructure of any network provider. Even though WiMAX is the cheapest and easiest of the 4G technologies to roll out across existing networks it is LTE mobile broadband that is so far proving to be the most popular technology for network providers throughout the country and is currently being trialled by a number of providers.
