4G WiMax Technology
The search for a next generation mobile broadband technology is already underway in the US as mobile network providers look for a way to provide the network capacity and connection speeds necessary to support the changing needs of their users as they increase their use of smart phones and mobile broadband devices. One such technology that is being considered by mobile network providers is 4G WiMAX, which will provide users with a whole range of new features and benefits including far more network bandwidth to allow them to get the most out of their mobile broadband devices. The extra network capacity that will come from the deployment of 4G WiMAX will also be useful during peak hours when congestion is often an issue for many users.
How will 4G WiMAX give users a better mobile broadband experience?
The rollout of 4G WiMAX technology will allow mobile network providers to offer users a huge range of new features and benefits over their networks due to the increased network capacity the technology will provide. This increased capacity will allow users to do things they would usually only be able to do with a fixed line connection in their home or their office using the mobile broadband connection from almost anywhere in the country. As well as greater network capacity users will also benefit from a significant increase in the speed of their mobile broadband connection, which will allow them to watch streaming movies, listen to streaming music or even download large data files and store them on their computer or mobile device.
The network coverage that 4G WiMAX will provide is also far better than anything that 3G mobile broadband networks currently offer and this will allow users to get online in far more places including the more remote and rural parts of the country, which until now have probably had very little or no access to broadband services at all. The increase in range that 4G WiMAX technology offers will allow every base station that is fitted with this technology to cover a far greater area and thus greatly reduce the costs for mobile broadband providers to roll out the 4G WiMAX service as fewer base stations are need to cover more of the country.
What will 4G WiMAX offer compared to its 4G LTE rival?
At the moment it appears that 4G LTE is the most popular of the 4G technologies currently being considered by mobile broadband providers. This, however, does not necessarily mean that 4G WiMAX is not going to be considered by providers for their next generation mobile broadband networks. Although both 4G technologies are quite similar in the features and benefits they offer the technology they use is completely different and this may affect the decisions currently being made by mobile network providers. Even though a number of mobile network providers have trialled 4G LTE services and are happy with the results the one key benefit that 4G WiMAX has over LTE is the cost involved in building it into existing mobile networks.
